-I admire a man named Nelson Mandela. There are several things that make him admirable. One of the reasons I find him rather admirable is because he served for five years as the first black South African president. He not only tackled racial issues but he had also ended up spending 27 years in prison after trying to overthrow the pro-apartheid government, or, in simpler words, a government that is racially segregated against all those who are not within a European group. He worked to achieve human rights and tried to progress toward a better future for the South African people. Eventually he negotiated the end of the apartheid and brought peace to a racially divided country.
Shows Virtue by:
- Nelson Mandela holds the virtues of Aristotle, like bravery, generosity, and truthfulness or honesty. Mandela had to be brave in order to stand up to the government for what he believed was right, which was racial equality. He had to be generous to be able to sacrifice 27 years of his life in prison for his cause. He had to be driven and motivated. Finally, Mandela had to be honest or truthful. He had to be honest about the issues in South Africa and he had to be honest as the president of South Africa and leader. All in all, Nelson Mandela was a very admirable man not only for his sacrifice but for his dedication to his cause.
